Nasa cast sina Ana Capri, Nonie Buencamino, Robert Arevalo, Gloria Sevilla at Kristine Mangle.

Marvin-Jolina love team revived on GMA-7
By Reggee Bonoan

Is it true GMA-7 decided to tuck the once-upon-a-time hot love team of Marvin Agustin and Jolina Magdangal on the upcoming I Love New York to ensure it would get higher ratings? The GMA top guns, we are told, aren’t sure the tandem of Mark Herras and Jennylyn Mercado is enough to make it a surefire hit.

According to a member of the production staff of the series, the script written purposely for Mark and Jen was almost finished when the writers got word that they needed to revise it to accommodate the characters that will be played by Marvin and Jolina.

With the addition of the two senior stars, GMA-7 is again committing the same mistakes before the network clinched the no. 1 spot.

Is there excitement around the reteaming of the former teen stars? Will they be billed ahead of Mark and Jennylyn who are without doubt the hottest young stars on TV these days?

Now, if the show rates high, would it be to the credit of Mark and Jennylyn? Or Marvin and Jolina?

We hope that the addition of Marvin and Jolina to the series that supposedly marks the first starring roles of Mark and Jennylyn in a soap would not water down the interest of their fans, as the Karylle and Dingdong teamup did in Encantadia.

From PM tabloid

This week ay isang linggo siyang mapapanood sa Laugh to Laugh.. Ang Kulit ng QTV 11 dahil siya ang special guest for the week at guguluhin niya ang barkadang Ryan Yllana, Jaboom twins, Boy2 Quizon, Juliana Palermo and Julia Clarete."

END of the month ang alis ng grupo ng I Love New York para magtaping sa New York City.

JENNYLYN MERCADO SURVIVES
Scoop Magazine
March 2006

Jennylyn Mercado and her entourage were already at the studio when we got there. We were not late. She was early. Good sign. Early in her career she knows that in show business a little professionalism goes a long way. And professional was what she was. She cooperated with our team without fuss. She was quick to change into her different outfits, and she listened well to instruction. She didn't mind being interviewed while her make-up was being done. In fact she was even able to squeeze in several mouthfuls of chips in between mouthful of words, all while she was sucking in her cheeks for some blush. A true multi-tasker if I ever saw one.

The eighteen-year-old is not as tall as she seems on screen. She's also voluptuous. Her hair is not as simple as I remembered it. Not anymore just the one-length affair that it was. Now it's stylishly jagged and has a streak of green for added ooomph. Jagged? Green? A little too edgy in my opinion. Then again, as any regular female who has experienced the highs and lows of falling in love, would know, this seemingly radical move is nothing new. It's understandable even. The girl was simply heartbroken and naturally a drastic haircut was in order.

"Breaking Up Is Hard To Do"

It has been four months since Jennylyn and former boyfriend, co-Starstruck grand survivor, Mark Herras called their relationship quits. It seemed like a perfect romance. Boy meets girl on the set of a hit national reality show, boy pursues girl, and by some stroke of fate boy and girl become the grand winners of the show. And as if fate's special treatment was not enough, Jennylyn and Mark even had the perfect set-up: They were paired as loveteam. They didn't even have to make time for each other despite their busy schedules because they worked together all the time. They were beautiful, they were young, and they were in-love. So what could have possibly gone wrong? "Wag na," is Jennylyn's curt reply. She seemed uncomfortable. And then she adds, "Pag nakausap niyo si Mark, siya na lang ang tanungin niyo."

"Someday We'll Know"

Jennylyn is already jaded for someone just in her late teens. After only two relationships, her first when she was in fourth year high school, she now wants to just lay low for a while. Her last left her badly burned. "For me natuto na ako na sige kayo na lang muna ang humabol nang humabol. Ayoko muna magseryoso. Ayoko munang maniwala na may seryoso sa kanila.Well based from my experience ganoon talaga." Obviously, she still a bit raw from her last break-up. "He broke-up with me. Napakainformal. Hindi maganda yung break-up. Jennylyn was left hanging. "So parang ako, 'Ay bakit? parang ganoon."

She can not understand what happened especially when she thought that everything was going well with them, she was after all such a devoted girlfriend, "Sobrang haba ng pasensiya ko. Maalaga (ako). Sobrang loving (ko). Maalaga sa pagkain. Maalaga sa lahat,"she says. And this alaga even translated in her generosity when it came to gifts, "Sobra-sobra. Mahilig ako magbigay ng gift. Medyo may pagka-generous ako ng kaunti, kahit medyo mahal, basta I make it a point na magagamit niya. Ayokong masasayang."

And even in the event of petty fights, normal among couples, Jen claims she was never confrontational. She says, "Tahimik lang ako. She was even one to swallow her pride.

Jennylyn Mercado 'I Will Survive'

Much as she would have liked the relationship to last, it ended prematurely. They were together for one year and five months. Like in most failed romances, Jennylyn went through the stages of coping. First were the nights spent in tears. "Super sakit yung break-up. Todo. As in, wow, sobrang painful. One week na iyak-iyak ganoon." Then came stress-eating. "After a week finally okey na ako. Kain ako ng kain. So medyo iba na amg hitsura ko. Sinabihan nga ako na, 'tumaba ka yata!" So that explains the sudden curves she developed. She does look sexier though. Then there was the requisite retail therapy. And of course with all this is play, the haircut was not far behind.

"Nagpapaganda ako, ganun ako eh. Kailangan magpa-sexy ako eh. Ayoko ng parang kawawa. Ayoko ng mukhang losyang. I decided to have a new look after the break-up." And it came to be, the new Jen we now all see.

The change is all for the good though. Not only does she has a stronger look now, she came out of the experience, stronger. She dreamt, she believed, she survived. And in true Startruck fashion, she had a lot of challenges she had to go through and yet she emerged the grand survivor - in more ways than one.

She survived the initial shock of her new celebrity status, "Noong una ang hirap. Umiiyak pa ako sa set. Ano ba to kakapagod. Araw-araw pagod. Araw-araw puyat. May time na 50 sequences puro iyak. Ano ba yan? Iniiyak ko na lang sa sasakyan, After one or two months nasanay na ako. Okay na," she says.

She had to get over the hurt of having to quit school and the impossible demands of her job, "Wala na akong time eh. Kahit nga matulog wala na eh. Bumalik ako (ng school) for a while, kaso nakakatulog ako sa sobrang pagod. Nagte-taping ako fro one show to another.

She has learned to accept what comes with her territory, "Yung mga issue about me, hindi ko na rin pinapansin. Basta alam ko namang hindi totoo."

And then she had to endure heartbreak and the awkwardness of having to work closely with an ex. "It was hard to talk to him. Ayoko siyang makita." There was also the matter of the gifts that were given that were suddenly being returned. It was like a tennis match, with gifts being bounced from court to court. Binalik niya. Ayaw niya tanggapin," she says. So did she feel compelled to return his gifts? "Ay hindi,"came her matter-of-fact reply.

But as in all stories on young love, all is well that ends well. Jennylyn and Mark have now come to terms with their break-up and have decided to stay friends. Maybe they realized that for practicality's sake they have to remain friends being that they have to see each other everyday, and especially since thay still remain to be a loveteam. "We're friends na. Wala, bigla na lang. Nagsama kami sa isang show and magkatabi kami, so "Huy! Ngayon okay na relationship namin. Comfortable na ulit sa trabaho, unlike before na sobrang hirap," she shares.

"You Made Me Stronger By Breaking My Heart"

Recently single, stronger and wiser beyond her years, and with her new edgier look, boys are sure to come knocking on Jennylyn's door. "I'm not in a relationship right now, but I am entertaining prospects," she declares. Unfortunately for those looking for anything too serious, the singer actress is on a self-imposed break, "Siguro for inspiration lang muna. Ganun-ganun muna. Ayoko muna ng sobrang seryoso." But just in case she does open her commitment doors again, Jennylyn stresses that it's all about sincerity for her, "Honesty and trust, yan ang kailangan sa isang relationship. Diyan mapu-prove kung mahal ka niya."

It helps too if the guy showers her and her family with attention, "Gusto ko full attention sa akin. Quite a tall order for some, but then she seems to like her orders tall, even in the looks department, quite literally. Well at least she just likes them taller than she is. "Dapat lang mas matangkad sa akin. Kahit ano. Hindi kailangan totally guwapo. Basta presentable. Yung kahit kanino mo iharap pwede. Ayoko naman nung sobrang hinahabol-habol ng babae."

Could this been a lesson she learned the hard way? She's not saying, but what she is saying is this: "Tanga ako sa ganyan eh. Siguro dapat magtira for yourself. Wag mong ibigay lahat. Kasi guys hindi nakukuntento. Pag dumating yung time na ganoon mas masakit eh. So dapat konti-konti lang."

Soundtrack of timeless love

Love is a wonderful feeling that has swept humanity. It breaks all odds and defies cultural barriers. But above all, love proves to stand the test of time.

All these are captured in "Moments of Love Original Motion Picture Soundtrack," an enchanting album about love’s lasting promise. The film focuses on Marco’s (Dingdong Dantes) search for the perfect woman, eventually falling for Divina Buenacer (Iza Calzado), a woman from the 1950s.

The soundtrack resembles the stunning melodrama of the film in its title track, "Moments of Love" depicted in various adaptations.

The soundtrack version is performed by Jennylyn Mercado and Janno Gibbs who gave justice to the piece that was exquisitely arranged.

Jennylyn reveals her vocal ability rivaling those of seasoned artists while Janno evokes consistency. The duo complements each other, as the song builds to a grand crescendo. Then there is the pop version rendered by Pinoy Pop Superstar finalists Brenan Espartinez, Charmaine Piamonte and Michael Garcia.

Produced and musically arranged by Melvin Morallos, the "Moments of Love" pop version) combine the superstar trio’s strengths: Brenan’s emotive dynamism, Charmaine’s delicate style, and Michael’s endearing charisma. The track "Sana’y Maghintay ang Walang Hanggan" is another astonishingly straight forward song, led by Alvin Nuñez’ poignant musical arrangement and Karylle’s sincere vocals. Her pitch is hauntingly lovely in the sea of elegant piano production. Equally appealing is Sipol’s "Give Me One More Chance." It somewhat shifts a bit with its acoustic sensibilities yet retains superb harmony with the album’s theme.

Nonong Buencamino’s "Moments of Love Suite" reaches brilliant heights with its orchestral depths. Notable tracks include the rich "Moments of Love" (new age version) and the instrumental version of "Sana’y Maghintay ang Walang Hanggan."

The fact that the soundtrack is as tasteful as the movie will only launch "Moments of Love" into higher grounds, and in time, will also bring popularity to the CD.

The album also contains spoken verses and lines from Dingdong, Iza , Karylle and Gloria Romero. It also includes the "Moments of Love" music video, with Jennylyn and Janno, directed by Mark Reyes.

Rarely has a local movie so effectively used music in the narration of a story of timeless love as in this GMA Films production. "Moments of Love Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" is now available on AVCD through GMA Records.

DREAM

Mahigit 26 years old si Ara Mina.

Ayaw ba ni Jackie Rice to have a sexy image?

Gigsters.
