Mark, Jennylyn together again!

Juicy Corner
3/31/06

Former lovebirds Mark Herras and Jennylyn Mercado are back into
each other's armbut this is only because they're working together in a TV project.

However, Mark did not discount the possibility of their getting back as sweethearts for as he said " ayokong magsalita ng patapos, basta our relationship is better this time unlike before that our work was affected by our awayan (fighting)."

NGAYONG Linggo na ang alis ng buong tropa ng GMA stars na pupunta sa New York City upang mag-tape doon ng drama series na I Love New York. As of this writing, ang love teams nina Jolina Magdangal-Marvin Agustin at Jennylyn Mercado-Mark Herras ang alam naming magbibida sa serye.

The rise of digital films

The rise of digital films
FUNFARE By Ricardo F. Lo
The Philippine Star 03/31/2006

Last year saw the rise of digital films, with at least two making waves abroad, Brilliante Mendoza’s Masahista and Aureus Solito’s Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros. This year more and more digital films are being made, giving young and new directors, mostly talented, much deserved breaks.

Cinemalaya, Cinema One Originals and Viva continue to support the making of digital films, which they started last year.

Cinemalaya is giving P500,000 seed money to each of the 10 winners of the scriptwriting contest it conducted late last year, thanks to the generosity of Tonyboy Cojuangco of ABC 5. The winners have started production work on their scripts. In 2005, Mr. Cojuangco also subsidized Cinemalaya, which came up with such gems as Maximo Oliveros and Doy del Mundo’s Pepot Artista.

Cinema One Originals is open to all filmmakers, be they new or old, provided the theme of their projects is innovative, cutting-edge. Dennis Marasigan’s Sa North Diversion Road is a Cinema One Originals winner last year.

Viva has come up with a number of very good digital films, among them Paolo Villaluna and Ellen Ramos’ Ilusyon, graded A last year by the Cinema Evaluation Board.

Urian, Film Academy of the Philippines, FAMAS, Star, Enpress awards and other award-giving groups, taking note of the boom in digital films, have included them on the list of 2005 movies to be honored in the coming months.

Columnist-critic Mario Bautista, writing in S magazine, said, "Honestly, we believe that there are better realized digital films made than the usual 35mm."

In Mario B’s Best Films for 2005, five are digital films, also known as indies, small budgeted (not more than P1-M), topbilled by stage artists and some mainstream stars, mostly given modest honorarium or even gratis et amore.

They are: Ilusyon, Masahista, Maximo Oliveros, Sa North Diversion Road and Mario Cornejo and Monster Jimenez’s Big Time.

The three mainstream films on his list are Joel Lamangan’s Blue Moon, Erik Matti’s Exodus and Jeffrey Jeturian’s Bikini Open.

As expected, some of Mario B’s Best Performers for 2005 come from digital films. His choices are published in S mag.

Best Actress: Irma Adlawan for Sa North Diversion Road, Ana Capri for Ala Verde Ala Pobre, Meryll Soriano for Roomboy and Jaycee Parker for Ilusyon – digital films all. Cherry Pie Picache for Bikini Open and Zsa Zsa Padilla for Ako Legal Wife.

Best Actor: Yul Servo for Ilusyon, Winston Elizalde for Big Time, Ebong Joson for Ala Verde Ala Pobre, John Arcilla for Sa North Diversion Road, Eddie Garcia for ICU, Coco Martin for Masahista, Ricky Davao for Pusang Gala and Carlo Aquino for Tuli.

Almost all digital lineup but for Bong Revilla for Exodus and again Eddie Garcia for Blue Moon, entries to the Metro Manila Film Festival.

Best Supporting Actress: In this category there are only two from digital films, Irma Adlawan for ICU and Rio Locsin for Pepot Artista.

Mainstream performers on Mario B’s list are Hilda Koronel and Gloria Diaz for Nasaan Ka Man, Jennylyn Mercado for Blue Moon, Assunta de Rossi for Mourning Girls and Francine Prieto for Bikini Open.

Best Supporting Actor: Again digital films dominated the list. Tado for Pepot Artista, Soliman Cruz for Maximo Oliveros, Andoy Ranay for Bathhouse, Allan Paule for Masahista, Lito Pimentel and Cholo Barretto for Sa Aking Pagkakagising sa Kamulatan, Alcris Galura for Mga Pusang Gala and Nor Domingo, Michael de Mesa and Jamie Wilson for Big Time. Christopher de Leon and Dennis Trillo for Blue Moon.

In the technical aspects, Mario B cited Albert Banzon and Odyssey Flores for the cinematography of Daan Patungong Kalimugtong and Ilusyon, respectively. For production design, Mario B singled out Cesar Hernando for Pepot Artista, Danny Red for Ilusyon and Joey Luna for Blue Moon – all three are period films.

Come awards nights, let’s see if indie queen Irma Adlawan will win over the Divine Diva Zsa Zsa Padilla. Or if Coco Martin will upstage Bong Revilla or Eddie Garcia.

This include the PM, the director and his AD, the EP and the AP, a PA, a handler for the stars at ang apat na artistang sina Jolina Magdangal, Marvin Agustin, Jennylyn Mercado at Mark Herras.

Twenty one days silang magtatagal sa New York at kukunan doon ang kalahati ng kwento so by the time na nakabalik sila rito, almost half of the soap's first season has been taped.

Ito ang pagbabalikan ng tambalang Jolens and Marvin pati na rin ang Mark and Jenny.

This is rhe first soap din ng GMA na hindi fantaserye after a long while.

sina Jolina Magdangal, Marvin Agustin, Jennylyn Mercado at Mark Herras.

By the way, isang buwan mamamalagi ang tropa sa New York kaya tiyak na mami-miss

Wala siya sa movie, but she sang the theme song together with Janno Gibbs. This is her first kaya excited siya.

The movie is absolutely not a fan movie but a unique love story. Kung nag-enjoy kayo sa story ng Titanic, Somewhere in Time at Blue Moon ay ti-yak na magugustuhan ninyo ito dahil they are of the same genre.

Na-confused kami sa mga unang pagtatagpo ng dalawang bida, played by Dingdong Dantes and Iza Calzado, sa simbahan dahil 'di pa sila nagkakausap sa telepono samga ekse-nang 'yon. Magulo and yet, I do recommend the movie, it's beautifully done and with a beautiful cast

Marvin-Jolina, Suporta Lang?

Nanghihinayang talaga kami sa balik tambalan nina Jolina Magdangal at Marvin Agustin. Noon top grosser sa takilya ang kanilang loveteam at when they parted ways, nasa gitna pa rin naman sila ng kanilang kasikatan.
Pero ngayon sa soap na " I Love New York" bale magiging ka-share nila ang loveteam din nina Mark Herras at Jennylyn Mercado. Magrate man ito dehins kina Marvin at Jolens mapupunta ang credit nito kung hindi kina Jen at Mark Herras who in just a short time has established themselves as a bankable pair.
Di kaya maging suporting na lamang ang dating ng No. 1 nacomic loveteam ng Star Cinema at ABS-CBN years ago?
Pero ba't ang Juday-Piolo loveteam nagclick on it's own? Sila na ang nasa front line maging pelikula o soap man. Halos magka-contemporary lamang sina Jolens, Marvin, Juday at Piolo o mas bata pa nga ang dalawang huli. Kasi if I recall product pa ng "That's Entertainment" ni Kuya Germs sina Juday at Piolo, di ba?
Ba't kaya ayaw sumugal ng siyete sa solong tambalan nina Marvin at Jolens? Depende sa publicity they could still regain their popularity as a comic loveteam. Kung sa comedy among our younger set of stars, aba wala ng tatalo pa sa dalawang ito. Yun nga lang they should be given thje right script.

MARK Herras and Jennylyn Mercado are supposed to fly to New York on April 1 to tape their new soap to be shot there on location, I Love New York.

The duo's fans are hoping their being together for one month in Manhattan will help rekindle their feelings for each other.

Working with them is another reunited erstwhile loveteam: Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin.

Marvin has left ABS-CBN since they have no new assignment for him. His new manager is Orly Ilacad of OctoArts Films. Marvin is very grateful to Orly as it was the OctoArts' entry Kutob that won him the best actor award in the 2005 Metro Manila Film Festival.

Marvin replaces Michael V, who left Orly's stable after more than 15 years. It was Orly who gave Michael V the breaks as a rapper and as a movie star. Orly felt bad when Michael V didn't even bother to talk with him personally about leaving but just sent him a letter through a lawyer.

Going back to Marvin and Jolens, we wonder if fans of their loveteam still exist. As everyone knows, Marvin now has Tetet Dy, who has given him twin sons: Santiago and Sebastian. On the other hand, Jolens is "on" with Atty. Bebong Muñoz, who's based in the States — so, for sure, they'll be seeing each other.

Kasamang aalis sina Jennylyn Mercado, Mark Herras, Jolina Magdangal at Marvin Agustin.

Dreams Come True for Jennylyn

Image hosting by Photobucket

The Ultimate Survivor of Starstruck Batch 1 has a lot to be thankful for. She is now one of the hottest stars in Philippine television and the other half of the most bankable love teams in the country today. Meet Jennylyn Mercado.

She is young, simply lovely and possesses one of the sweetest voices among the young icons in showbiz. With a successful album under her belt, she can now boast of being a true recording artist, a wish that she had always dreamed of. When asked what she prefers acting or singing, Jen answers, “singing, definitely singing.” In fact, she is now preparing for a second album. Weekly, she is able to highlight her musical prowess in the teen variety program SOP Gigsters.

Jen has worked with big names such as Kris Aquino and Eric Quizon in the big screen in “So Happy Together.” Another hit film was with Richard Gutierrez, and Angel Locsin in “Let the Love Begin.” As a true testament to her rising stardom, she has also starred alongside real-love Mark Herras, in the blockbuster success, “Say That You Love Me”.

Aside from a successful musical and movie career, Jen is a GMA talent that has graced several television shows, making her a household name. But among her numerous TV projects, it is probably her princess fairy character in Encantadia that has truly made her star shine even brighter.
