Walang nanliligaw ka jennylyn Mercado period!

Showstopper

"Si Marco, noon ko pa nakilala when we did an episode for Extra Challenge last year, sey niya.

Paistarr

Dingdong and Iza,Mark and Jennylyn in a romantic drama

Manila StandardToday
8/2/06

Two of show business’ popular pairs, Iza Calzado-Dingdong Dantes and Jennylyn Mercado-Mark Herras, are in Regal Entertainment’s much-awaited romantic film Eternity. This is the first time that these two big love teams will be in one epic love story that spans the 1800s to the present.

Iza has appeared in several movies by Regal, like Sabel and Sigaw for which she won an Urian Best Supporting Actress award as a battered wife of Jomari Yllana, the character he played. Eternity is Dingdong’s second project for Regal, the first being a horror flick with Karylle as his costar.

Mark and Jennylyn, meanwhile, are turning out to be one of Regal’s and Mother Lily’s busiest love teams. Their first project for Regal was the Metro Manila Film Festival 2004 blockbuster family comedy So Happy Together, which was followed up with the smash hit Say That You Love Me. Mark and Jennylyn achieved critical acclaim and box-office success with MMFF 2005’s Blue Moon. They were named People’s Choice Best Actor and Actress, respectively. Recently, their movie was chosen as Star Awards’ Best Picture. Jennylyn’s performance as a very loving nurse also captured the attention of the very hard-to-please Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino with a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Blue Moon.

Eternity is considered as a prestigious and important project in the careers of these love teams. Mark Reyes who made Moments of Love, one of the biggest romantic movies of 2006 directed the movie. Gina Marissa Tagasa wrote the screenplay based on an idea by Reyes. Playing very important roles are Hilda Koronel and Jaclyn Jose. Shot in the quaint town of Vigan and scenic Manila, the movie is set in two periods of Philippine history.

Eternity is a deeply moving story about Crisanto (Dingdong) and Milagros (Iza), lovers in the 1800s who are reincarnated in Cholo (Mark) and Meagan (Jennylyn) in the present. Like Crisanto and Milagros, Cholo and Meagan are also caught in the middle of family conflicts, with their respective families forbidding them to see each other.

“We haven’t made a movie like this in such a grand scale,” says Regal Entertainment executive producer Lily Monteverde. “It’s only fitting that we get the Philippines’ biggest love teams today—Iza Calzado and Dingdong Dantes and Mark and Jennylyn—for this big movie.”

Eternity opens in theaters nationwide on Aug. 30.

Jennylyn and Mark: We’re tired

FREEHAND
by : Mario E. Bautista

Mark Herras & Jennylyn Mercado
MARK HERRAS didn’t get to the presscon of “Eternity” as he was rushed to the hospital complaining of high fever and severe headache.

Only Jennylyn Mercado showed up and she was so late as she came from promoting her “Letting Go” album in a mall in Batangas. “We’re both so tired na as he’s also promoting his dance album,” says Jen. “This is the reason why I asked permission not to appear muna in ‘SOP Gigsters’ as I want to have some free time that I’d devote on my voice lessons and personality development class. This will help me grow as a performer and it’s also in preparation for my next major concert in November.”

Regal Films producer Mother Lily Monteverde says “Eternity” is the most expensive film of the year. “All the period scenes set in Spanish times cost a lot,” she says. “This is the first time I became really obedient to my director, Mark Reyes, and gave him everything he wanted for the movie. In fairness, bumilib ako sa trabaho niya.

Mother Lily is celebrating her birthday on August 20. The other stars of “Eternity” are also celebrating their birthday this month, Dingdong Dantes on August 2 and Iza Calzado on August 12.

Kung sumagot man, kundi one-liner, “no comment” ang sinasabi.

CUT!
by : Noel Asiñas

‘Eternity,’ done in just 15 days yet very expensive!

Crispina Martinez Belen
Manila Bulletin
8/02/06

It was filmed in just 15 days but Mother Lily (Monteverde) said her latest offering, "Eternity," was still a very expensive project. Megged by Mark A. Reyes (who Mother Lily described as an "outstanding director"), features two of the country’s most romantic and most adored loveteams, those of Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras; and Dingdong Dantos and Iza Calzado. Mark A. Reyes was of course the director behind GMA Films’ romantic movie "Moments of Love," one of this year’s most successful films.

Dingdong, Iza, Mark and Jennylyn star together for the first time in Regal’s much awaited romance film, which also stars awardwinning actresses Hilda Koronel and Jaclyn Jose, and which is slated to open on Aug. 30.

If Mother Lily is banking so much of the two loveteams, it’s because they’ve proven their worth at the box-office. Iza has done several movies for Regal, among them "Sabel" and "Sigaw," where she won an Urian Best Supporting Actress award for playing a battered wife to Jomari Yllana. "Eternity" is Dingdong’s second project with Regal, the first being a horror flick with Karylle as his co-star.

On the other hand, Mark and Jennylyn are turning out to be one of Regal’s and Mother Lily’s beloved and busiest loveteams. Their first project for Regal was the 2004 Metro Manila Film Festival blockbuster family comedy "So Happy Together," which was followed up with the smash hit "Say That You Love Me." Mark and Jennylyn acheived critical acclaim and box-office success with MMFF 2005’s "Blue Moon." Recently, their movie ("Blue Moon") was chosen as Star Awards’ Best Picture. Jennylyns’s performance as a very loving nurse also captured the attention of the hard–to-please Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino with a Best Supporting Actress nomination.

So, what made "Eternity" a very expensive film? According to the director, its the fabulous Spanish colonial costumes used by the characters (especially in the masquerade ball and in the streets of Vigan, Ilocos Sur where the highlight scenes were shot) which they got from Tanghalang Pilipino and two designers. The sets and certain sequences with special visual effects also contributed to the greater bulk of expenses. "And to think that binagyo kami three times, this doubled our paghihirap and expenses," Mark said.

During the press conference of "Eternity" at the Imperial Palace Suites, it was noticed that the cast of the movie seems to be a reunion of "Encantadia" stars. The director admitted, saying he wanted to have a cast that he could work most comfortably with, "since I only had 13 days to shoot the movie and I wanted actors who I know could deliver." The 13 days became 15 days when they had to reshoot the horse rides which were filmed in Gov. Chavit Singson’s Baluarte farm in Vigan. Some of the scenes they had to reshoot in Bulacan, according to the producer, Roselle Monteverde–Teo.

If the major stars of the movie including Dingdong, Mark Herras and Bobby Andrews all expressed having encountered difficulties in doing their respective roles, it’s because they had to go through rigorous training, especially in horseback riding, fencing and in learning how to speak Spanish.

Even Mother Lily learned to say a few Spanish words during the filming of "Eternity," she revealed.

But in Dingdong and Iza’s case, one of their challenges in the movie is speaking archaic Tagalog lines. For Jennylyn, one of the more difficult sequences is the part wherein she shifts from the character of free-spirited and independent Meagan to the melancholic Milagros. Dingdong and Mark will have complicated action sequences that involve horses and swordfights.

"Eternity is Mark A. Reyes’ first directorial project under Regal Entertainment and he said "it’s my honor and privilege to work for Regal Films. Mother Lily was very supportive in providing us with everything we needed to fulfil the vision of this movie." It’s also the first time that screenwriter Gina Marissa Tagasa is doing a script for a Regal movie project. She reveals that she was so much emotionally involved in the writing of "Eternity" that she was able to finish the screenplay in just four days! "nag-enjoy ako sa material because it’s a love story," she declares.

What also motivated her was the vision imparted by director Mark A. Reyes. "He said he wanted a romantic story na may texture, may touches of history. Napaka–contagious ang passion ni Direk Mark! He is brimming with ideas!"

Going back to the love teams featured in "Eternity," Mother Lily has this to say: "We haven’t done a love story like this in such a grand scale. It’s only fitting that we get the Philippines’ biggest love teams today: Iza and Dingdong; and Mark and Jennylyn for this big movie!"

PABORITO NI MOTHER

SUNTOK SA BUWAN Ni Emy Abuan-Bautista

DAILY INSIDER
by : Dinno Erece

Something to do with her vocal chords dahil kumakanta siya. Katunayan, sa first general presscon ng Eternity last Sunday, kaya si-ya na-late, galing pa siya sa Batangas to promote her album from GMA Films.

Meron pa silang SOP Gigsters kaya talagang pa-tayan pa rin ang dalawa as far as work is concern.
