Even if Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras started as winners of GMA’s Starstruck, it was Mother Lily who signed them up for cinema and made them a love team — Let The Love Begin, a joint venture in February 2005.

Jennylyn and Mark are still a team in Regal’s filmfest entry, Quark Henares’ Super Noypi.

Do I hear right too that Mother Lily will make Magic Camison into a movie?" Magic camison" used to refer to the slip (camison) used in sexy (read: bold) films Regal used to make bit sex starts out of Alma Moreno and Rio Locsin.

Now it will be a movie. It will be a Jennylyn-Mark starrer. Does that explains why you see a lot of cleavage in Jennylyn lately

Samantala, back to work si Jen pagkatapos maospital.

Jen Talks About Her Medical Condition

Article posted September 27, 2006

“Wala pang kalahati ‘yung show ko, nahilo na ako, so nag-black out ‘yung paningin ko, nakalakad pa ako.

Jen will return to the hospital for another round of tests when she gets the time. She admits that she’s a bit nervous about the real deal behind her condition.

Jen doesn’t blame anyone for what she’s feeling, because she admits that she genuinely loves her work.

Jennylyn collapses; show, shoot aborted

Jennylyn Mercado
JENNYLYN Mercado collapsed while promoting her “Letting Go” album at SM Molino last Sunday. Jen came from the all-night taping of “Dangal” with Dennis Trillo and she wasn’t able to rest well as she had to go straight to the mall. As a result, she felt dizzy and was not able to perform anymore. She was supposed to go to the shooting of Regal’s “Super Noypi” after her mall show, but she was rushed instead to St. Luke’s where she stayed for two days. From the hospital, she went to the taping of “Love to Love” where she plays a genie helping Lovi Poe in the “Jass Got Lucky” episode that won’t rate at all opposite ABS-CBN’s “Love Spell”. The doctors told her to get adequate rest but Jen’s schedule is so tight that sleep has now become a luxury for her.

Jennylyn nag-collapse!

That Sunday, inumaga sa taping si Jen ng Now and Forever with Dennis Trillo.

Jennylyn Mercado, still in St. Lukes Medical Center

Article posted September 25, 2006

Jennylyn Mercado was rushed to St. Lukes Medical Center on September 24, 2006 after collapsing due to over fatigue.

Her blood pressure and sugar level dropped significantly, especially since she has not had a decent rest for the longest time due to her hectic schedule. Aside from her TV shows, she is also filming a movie for the Metro Manila Film Festival, Super Noypi.

Jen already finished undergoing tests and is due to leave the hospital on September 26.

Redemption of pride and honor in “Dangal”

Article posted September 26, 2006

GMA-7 is bound to take the viewers to a different level of intense drama with a touching story of love, envy, rage and redemption of honor as the newest season of Now and Forever presents “Dangal.”

Now and Forever’s Season 7 offering boasts of a powerhouse cast topbilled by Jennylyn Mercado, Dennis Trillo, Katya Santos, Ciara Sotto, Desiree del Valle and with a special participation of Cherie Gil. Completing the cast are Mat Ranillo III and Melissa Mendez.

It is also Dennis and Jen’s first project together, something that Dennis admits to having some fears about, especially since their respective on-screen team-ups have been received well by the audiences. Dennis is usually paired with Angel Locsin while Jennylyn’s regular partner in film and TV is Mark Herras.

Dennis shares that like Jen, he’s also the quiet type. This has prompted him to exert extra effort to talk to Jen, because she still seems a bit shy around him. So napipilitan na ako, kasi tahimik siya, e!” he says with a laugh. He adds, “Hindi ko alam kung nahihiya lang siya, dahil bago pa lang, pero sana ma-discover ko pa ‘yung mga similarities namin along the way as we tape.”

Despite the pressure, however, Dennis says that he sees this as an opportunity for him and Jen to prove their skills as actors.

“Dangal” is under the direction of renowned director Mac Alejandre. The story revolves around a young lady named Alta (Jennylyn Mercado) who belongs to a wealthy family and whose life seems to be perfect.

Alta is surrounded by people she loves and trusts – her loving and devoted fiancé Adrian (Dennis Trillo); her friends Celestine (Ciara Sotto) and Iyanna (Katya Santos); as well as her adopted sister Giovanna (Desiree del Valle).

Everything in her life is almost perfect until the women she trusts betray her and cause her immense despair and dilemma.

‘Yun ‘yung malaking hamon at malaking surprise na matutuklasan ni Jennylyn - how she gets to learn about this. Even the audience would not know until a certain period of time -- na ‘yung mga inaakala nilang kapwa bida ay hindi pala bida after all, kung hindi mga kontrabida,” says direk Mac.

The tragedies in Alta’s life have been carefully plotted by Chandra (Cherie Gil), a mysterious woman who vows to exact revenge against Alta’s family. Cherie’s role in this series is her first project in the Kapuso Network.

Amidst the pain and suffering, Alta draws strength from the love of her boyfriend Adrian. But how pure are the intentions of her fiancé? Will destiny lead Alta to redeem herself and regain the family honor that was lost?

Don’t miss Now and Forever’s “Dangal” starting Monday, September 25, after Pinakamamahal in GMA-7’s Dramarama sa Hapon.

‘Now & Forever’ on its 7th season
manila bulletin
9/25/06

Its new episode entitled "Dangal," "Now & Forever," GMA Network’s afternoon drama series, enters its 7th season today, Sept. 25, with the special participation of Cherie Gil!

Jennylyn Mercado topbills the show, with Dennis Trillo as her faithful lover.

Others in the cast are Katya Santos, Ciara Sotto, Desiree del Valle, Mat Ranillo III and Melissa Mendez.

Before the opening of the press conference, Melissa said she will be getting married soon with a computer engineer from California. It will be a garden Christian wedding.

Ciara, who was at the same table with us, said that she will be singing during Melissa’s wedding which will be held in the Philippines.

Melissa has three children, the eldest being 19 and studying at De La Salle University. She described her children as very studious.

Melissa said that aside from her acting career, she is also busy with her painting career. Indeed, Melissa is an artist, and to pursue painting as a career is a very engrossing creative activity, and only those who have adequate discipline to stay alone for hours and facing a canvass, can succeed - and later become great and famous!

Mat Ranillo III is still suffering from a crack on his right rib. He recently fell into a manhole within the compound of the Batasan Pambasa. He said that after alighting from his car, he stepped on the cover of a manhole which immediately cracked, and gave way to him to fall down. He was lucky some people saw him and pulled him out of the manhole!

We understand that Speaker Jose de Venecia has initiated for the reimbursement of expenses incurred by Mat for his medical treatment as well as compensation.

He teams up with Melissa in "Dangal" as parents to Alta (Jennylyn Mercado).

Both Mat and Melissa said that their roles in the show are very timely as they have just finished other acting engagement.

Cherie Gil, who came in slim, said that "she was very grateful to GMA-7 for having considered her for the tough role."

She plays the wrecker of the smooth relationship of the family of Alta (Jennylyn). Cherie is one talent who is really very serious with her art. She excels also on stage! And only a few among our talents can so easily combine acting and stage craft.

Regarding her family — especially her relationship with her husband, she answered allegations that they have separated for quite sometime.

"Physically, yes we are separated," she said candidly. "But emotionally, we are together yet!" She added they are making both ends meet, and she is making a balance of her family, acting and her children!

It must be so difficult to achieve, but from the looks of it, Cherie is really determined to put sanity in all aspects of her life!

In "Dangal," Jennylyn said she has a heavier role. She discovers that the people whom she trusted most are the same people that would betray her. All because of envy: Celestine (Ciara Sotto) Iyanna (Katya Santos) and even her sister Giovanna (Desiree del Valle) connive to destroy her!

This 7th season of "Now and Forever" will therefore touch your heart!

BETRAYED - Jennylyn Mercado topbills the "Dangal" episode of Now and Forever, surrounded by people she trusts and loves, including a devoted fiance played by Dennis Trillo. But she discovers one day that her adoptive sister (Desiree Del Valle) and good friends (Ciara Sotto and Katya Santos) are conniving to destroy her.

A mysterious woman (Cherie Gil) is behind the evil scheme to destroy her and her parents (Archie Ranillo and Melissa Mendez).

[b]Jennylyn draws strength fro her boyfriend (Dennis Trillo). But can she also trust him?

Mac Alejandre directs "Dangal" penned by a pool of writers led by Don Michael Perez.

HOW does Jennylyn Mercado feel that she’s surrounded by so many contravidas like Cherie Gil, Katya Santos, Desiree del Valle and Ciara Sotto in the “Dangal” episode of GMA-7’s “Now & Forever”? “Of course, I’m nervous,” she says. “I consider it a big challenge to be acting with them dahil mas matagal na sila in the business kaysa sa akin and most of them, marami nang napatuna-yan. Even my leading man, Dennis Trillo, na ang dami ng awards. I really have to do my best para hindi na lang nila ako lamunin kapag magkakaeksena kami.”

In the story, she plays Alta, a rich girl about to marry Adrian (Dennis). She trusts her adopted sister so much, Giovanna (Desiree), and her two best friends, Celestine (Ciara) and Iyanna (Katya), without knowing they’re all plotting against her with the help of Chandra (Cherie) who has an ax to grind against her family. She leans on Adrian for support, but she’s also not sure if his intentions on her are good or he’s a part of Chandra’s revenge.

“What’s nice about my co-stars is that they help me out when we have scenes together,” adds Jen. “So I really want to thank them and our director, Mac Alejandre, who constantly boosts my confidence. With their help, I know I can give justice to my role as Alta.”

For his part, Dennis is glad to be paired with Jen for the first time. GMA-7 really takes good care of him as right after “Majika” ended, here he is now doing “Dangal” with a new leading lady. But he will be reunited with Angel Locsin in a movie, “Mano Po 5, Gua Ai Di”, that’s one of Regal’s four Metro filmfest entries.
