Soap opera addicts have been getting their fill of afternoon drama in Now and Forever: Dangal. “Dangal” revolves around Alta, played by Jennylyn Mercado who belongs to a wealthy family and whose life seems to be perfect. Alta is surrounded by people she loves and trusts – her loving and devoted fiancé Adrian (Dennis Trillo); her friends Celestine (Ciara Sotto) and Iyanna (Katya Santos); as well as her adopted sister Giovanna (Desiree del Valle). Everything in her life is perfect until the very women she trusts decide to betray her.

Lahat. Parents. Love life. Kayamanan. Lahat. Pati katawan ko, lahat kukunin nila.”

Though she’s used to heavy drama, Jen admits that acting in Dangal can sometimes take its toll on her. “Tiring, emotionally. Talagang sasakit yung dibdib mo kasi 30 sequences a day, tapos lahat ‘yun umiiyak, lahat nagagalit, lahat inaapi, sampal, sabunot, suntok, lahat!” The singer-actress adds “Sobrang nakaka-drain dun sa Now and Forever pero it serves as a training ground na rin.

Sure, Jen has to cry a lot and get slapped around sometimes in her role, but it’s all worth it because she gets to have ultra hot Dennis Trillo as her leading man. Jen has nothing but good things to say about Dennis.

Of course, we just had to ask Jen who she thought was the better leading man, darling Dennis or Bad Boy of the Dance Floor and former boyfriend Mark Herras. Her answer: “Pagdating sa arte, siyempre Dennis, ang galing talaga. Wala akong masabi. Ang bait! Sobrang bait. Si Mark? Good friend.” She adds, “(As ka-love team), syempre marami rin kaming pinagdaanan ni Mark and mas matagal ko siyang nakasama. Pero, sa short time na pinagsamahan namin ni Dennis, I find (him) almost perfect.”

In fact, Dennis went through great lengths to make sure that Jen was comfortable on the set. “Tinutulungan niya ako,” Jen says.

But it’s not just Dennis who Jen gets along with. According to her, despite the show’s highly dramatic nature, there’s an air of friendliness on the set. “Halos lahat kami magkakasundo,” says Jen.

As Jen mentioned earlier, being on the weekly show has been a learning experience for her. For one thing, it has helped her hone her acting abilities. So ngayon, na-train ako (ng proper method).

It has also given Jen the chance to work with one of the country’s leading kontrabida icons, Miss CheriJENNYLYN to 4627 for all telcos.
e Gil. Jen admits that she was intimidated at first, but she was soon won over by Cherie’s kindness and professionalism.

The show may have reached its midpoint, but things are just heating up. Each episode is packed with drama.

That’s why you shouldn’t miss an episode of Now and Forever: Dangal, weekdays during Dramarama sa Hapon.

Naka-move on na kami pareho."

Jennylyn on Mark and Nicole: I’m happy for him

HOW does Jennylyn Mercado feel now that ex-BF Mark Herras is courting Nicole Anderson and is very open about his feelings for Jean Saburit’s daughter? “Honestly, I’m happy for him,” she says on the set of “Super Noypi”. “Kung totoong nagkakamabutihan na nga sila, at least, that means that he has moved on. And it’s good, dahil ako, matagal na akong naka-move on.

When she says she herself has moved on a long time ago, does that mean she has also found a new inspiration in life? Could it be Patrick Garcia who’s currently being linked to her?

“Right now, I feel it’s something very personal and I want to keep it private muna. All I can say is that I’m happy and yes, inspired din ako. Naisip kong one reason why we had to break up was dahil siguro naguluhan na kami sa mga tao sa paligid namin. So this time, I want to avoid that para hindi na maulit ang ganoong mga pangyayari. The important thing is Mark and I remain good friends at heto, tanggap pa rin ng tao ang love team namin kaya nga we’re paired again in ‘Super Noypi’.”

Jennylyn, walang takot makipagbatuhan kay Cherie

by Vir Gonzalez
