First US trip with Jennylyn excites Patrick

By: Mario E. Bautista
FREEHAND

PATRICK Garcia just returned from a tour of Alaska.

So what did he see in Alaska? “Whales, penguins, bears, millions of sheep, untamed wilderness, maganda talaga. Nag-bonding kami ng father ko.”

He was gone for almost two weeks and he really missed GF Jennylyn Mercado while they were apart. What are the qualities of Jen that endears her to him?

“She’s really sweet, thoughtful, super maasikaso. We’ve been on for 10 months, kaya na-miss ko talaga siya,” he says.

Jen says he taught her to be more patient. “She’s 20, I’m 25. I guess the age gap works for us well as she listens to me when I tell her to relax and not be impatient.”

They’re paired in the “Angel of Love” episode of the trilogy, “Angels.” “It’s the first time I work with someone who’s my girlfriend in real life and it’s a good experience. Feel namin talaga ang story ng episode namin, which is a light feel-good love story. We’re poles apart in our status in life but an angel connected us with each other.”

Has he had a real-life angel experience? “Yes, when I was 18 or 19, my friends and I went outing in Lake Caliraya. I went on jetskiing with a friend, then nahulog kami. My friend swam back to our raft right away but I decided to retrieve the jetski kasi hiniram ko lang ‘yun. I swam to go after it, e palayo nang palayo. When I looked back at the raft, ang layo na, and I’m so tired na from swimming. I shouted for help pero hindi na ko marinig ng mga kasama ko. So I prayed, God, please help me. When I looked behind me, biglang may boat with three kids in it and they saved me from drowning. Sila’ng angels ko.”

Patrick looks forward to going to the U.S. with Jen for the California premiere of “Angels” in July. “First time for us to travel together and it’ll be a nice experience.”

Jennylyn Mercado wants a grand wedding

Manila Bulletin
June 9, 2007

It’s very evident the way they acted during the recent press conference for "Angel of Love," the third episode of the trilogy "Angels," that Jennylyn Mercado and Patrick Garcia are so in love with each other.

They were always holding hands, and Patrick was very caring and solicitous of Jennylyn’s needs, who by the way, got sick recently so she wasn’t able to show up at the recent press conference for her Regal Entertainment movie "Tiyanaks." Contary to rumors, it wasn’t because she was avoiding former boyfriend Mark Herras that’s why she didn’t attend the presscon.

And during her illness, Patrick came rushing to her side to show his care and concern. "Yon ang kaibahan ni Patrick kay Mark, si Patrick may time lagi kay Jen, at maalaga talaga siya, ipinapakita niya ang concern niya," Jen’s mother Lydia said.

During the filming of "Angel of Love," Jennylyn and Patrick’s closeness and caring attitude did not escape even the kids in the cast, especially Ella Cruz (who plays Kerubina in the episode) who said with a big smile, "lagi silang holding-hands."

In the story, Kerubina is an angel assigned to prove that love defies personality differences and social status. She engineers events for Bianang (Jennylyn), a poor and carefree but kindhearted rock band player, and Jude (Patrick), a rich lonely boy who goes for classical music and everything sleek. Call it serendipity, Jude and Bianang start falling in love in the most unexpected places and the most peculiar situations. Kerubina is victorious and gets her silver star as a reward.

Also in the cast of "Angel of Love" are Marco Alcaraz as Ebong, Jennylyn’s fellow band member who’s in love with her; Boots Anson-Roa, Empress Schuck, Allan Paule, Karel Marquez, Popoy Bardos, Cheska Inigo, Martin delos Santos, Sweet Ramos, Bianca Aguila, Rian Joshua Conde, and Yumi Loseo. "Angel of Love" is directed by Mark Reyes from a script by Gina Marissa Tagasa.

Jennylyn wants a grand wedding

There’s a wedding scene between Patrick and Jennlyn in "Angel of Love" and when asked if she also wants to have a grand wedding of her own, Jen said of course, "since it happens only once in my life."

But of course, at the moment, both she and Patrick are not ready to get married yet. They’re still young, and besides they have their respective careers to take care of with utmost priority. "Angels," produced by Angel Locsin and Becky Aguila under Eagle Eye Entertainment Producton, Inc., will be shown in local theaters starting on June 20.

Yun yung challenging dun kasi di naman ako ganun in real life ", say ng aktres.

Patrick a better boyfriend than Mark, says Jennylyn
Rowena Agilada

AYAW pagkumparahin ni Jennylyn Mercado sina Mark Herras at Patrick
Garcia, her ex- and current boyfriends, respectively. Basta aniya,

"Angel of Love"
ang kanilang episode.

Special kay Patrick ang project na ito dahil first time niyang
leading lady sa movie ang girlfriend niya, na hindi nangyari in the
past. Aniya, he had so much fun working with Jen dahil very

nila'y totoong ikinakasal sila.

Jen. Sey nga pala niya, wala siyang talent fee sa "Angels" at for
the love of her friend, Angel Locsin, kaya ginawa niya ang movie. Si
Angel ang producer nito under her Eagle Eye Productions kasosyo ang
manager nilang si Becky Aguila.

No big deal

He's looking forward to working with Jen and Mark

Nag-observe si Jen and it gave her a better idea
about the sport.
paano mag-concentrate at mag-target.

He gave her more
advice and secrets on archery, his favorite sport.

PATRICK, NAGBAGO ANG ISIP SA PAGPAPAKASAL
Mercy Lejarde, Bulgar, 8 June 2007

Si Patrick naman ay tinanong ni yours truly kung at what age niya gustong mag-settledown with gf Jennylyn at ang sagot niya ay..."Well, I told myself when I was 15, at the age of 25, magpapakasal na ako. And now that I am 25, sabi ko, "Ah at the age of 32 na lang, with matching smile sa kissable lips.

at Patrick Garcia, nasabi sa amin ng magsyota na, so far, going strong and very
smooth ang kanilang relationship.

Walang away, although may tampuhan paminsan-minsan. Hindi raw siIa
’yung tipong aso’t pusa na maya’t maya’y nag-aaway.

Sabi ni Patrick, hindi naman siya strict kay Jennylyn as a boyfriend.Lalo na when it comes to pananamit.

”No. I’m not. She herself naman knows her limitations, eh. Kumbaga, when she did Maxim before..ahhmmn, she asked first may permission and I said...
”you know, it’s up to you. If if could make you feel happy, okay go.” And that’s
her work naman, eh. And ahhmmn, siguro alam niya yung limitation niya what’s respectable and what’s not. Kumbaga, she knows the line.” nakangiting pag-

In short, wala talaga silang pakialaman.

Jennylyn and Patrick: Nine months and going stronger
Ricky LO

In showbiz, it’s rare for young sweethearts to stick to each other for long. It’s not unusual for partners to split up and find other partners faster than a director could say, “Action!” For a young couple to be together for nine months is a feat, an achievement, so Jennylyn Mercado and Patrick Garcia deserve not just a pat on their backs but a trophy. They’ve been going steady for nine months and their romance is getting stronger despite the intrigue swirling around them.

What’s their “secret formula,” if any?

Holding hands as lovers should, Jennylyn and Patrick said they keep communication lines open and, as much as possible, don’t let intrigues or rumors affect them.

“What do I like most about Patrick? Yes, his being patient. You see, I can be moody and he knows how to adjust to my moods.”

Shy by nature, Patrick admitted that Jennylyn is his first showbiz girlfriend, and that he’s still adjusting to a situation that’s quite new to him, unlike Jennylyn who has been linked to a few showbiz guys. Actually, she said, she went steady with only one of them, Mark Herras.

Jennylyn and Mark are among the stars of Regal Films’ Tiyanaks while Jennylyn and Patrick are together in the Angels trilogy, first venture of Eagle Eye Entertainment Productions, Inc. which is jointly owned by Angel Locsin and her manager Becky Aguila. Angel herself stars in the Angel of Mine episode, directed by Gina Alajar; Marvin Agustin (Angel’s rumored suitor) in the Daddy’s Angel episode, directed by Dingdong Dantes; and Jennylyn and Patrick in the Angel of Love episode, directed by Mark Reyes.

“It’s our first time to work together in a movie,” said Jennylyn. “Masaya.”

Because they are confortable with each other, the sweethearts didn’t have any qualms with their love/kissing scenes.

Patrick just came back from Alaska where he spent two weeks with his father. Jennylyn wanted to go with him but was prevented by her tight schedule. Her consolation was that Patrick came home with her bilin — loads and loads of make-up.

Regal Entertainment Press Release

Regal’s “Tiyanaks”:
This Year’s Ultimate Scare!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Regal Entertainment presents a gigantic horror-drama that’s set to keep the audience at the edge of their seats with heart pounding scares, topnotch production values and awesome performances. Get ready for “Tiyanaks,” starring Rica Peralejo, Jennylyn Mercado, Mark Herras, JC de Vera, and directed by Mark Reyes.

Horror fans know that Regal popularized the horror genre in the 1980s in movies and television and “Tiyanak” (cast: Janice de Belen, Chuckie Dreyfus, Carmina Villarroel, Lotlot de Leon, director: Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes) was one of Mother Lily Monteverde’s most memorable and biggest horror movies. “Tiyanaks” is partly inspired by the very successful “Tiyanak,” however it takes the concept further by having not just one but three of these sharp-toothed creatures wreaking havoc on land, water and air so that no one is safe.

“This is not a remake,” explains producer Roselle Monteverde-Teo. “We’ve made a story that would appeal to the horror fans of this generation. The pacing will be brisk. There’s heart-pounding action at every turn. We will also be utilizing plenty of special effects. The production design team is young and very modern but at the same time evoke a classic feel. After all, we intend ‘Tiyanaks’ to be a very unforgettable horror movie.”

Executive producer Mother Lily Monteverde declares, “Although this one is different, ‘Tiyanaks’ still has a sense of history. Up to now, there are still those who come up to me and say that they remember ‘Tiyanak.’ They remember the scary image of Janice de Belen holding the small tiyanak. That image haunts me sometimes and so I thought it would be great if we could share that kind of scare with the young people today and at the same time, make the older ones reminisce the past.”

“Tiyanaks” is the first horror movie of hip, young director Mark Reyes and the first time that Rica, Mark and Jennylyn are together in one big horror movie. So they’re all very thrilled and excited.

Only the creepiest, most cinematic sites have been chosen as locations. The film will be shot in forests, caves and haunted areas in the provinces. “There are no scene in the urban places so shooting is kind of a challenge,” Roselle points out.

“Tiyanaks” also stars Ryan Yllana, Jill Yulo, Alwyn Uytingco, Karel Marquez, Andrei Felix, TJ Trinidad and Lotlot de Leon who was also in “Tiyanak.” Nash Aguas, who won Best Child Performer in the 2006 MMFF for the movie “Shake, Rattle and Roll 8,” makes his second horror via “Tiyanaks.”

“Tiyanaks” screens in theaters nationwide very soon.

REGGEE BONOAN

What Patrick has taught Jennylyn

By: Mario E. Bautista
FREEHAND

OTHER stars have no movie projects but Jennylyn Mercado is in the cast of two
new films: Regal’s “Tiyanaks” and the trilogy produced by her manager, Becky Aguila, and Angel Locsin, “Angels.” She’s paired with ex-BF Mark Herras in “Tiyanaks,” to be shown on July 4, and with current BF Patrick Garcia in the “Angel of Love” episode of “Angels”, to be shown on June 20, with premiere night at SM North Edsa on June 16.

In “Tiyanaks,” she plays Rina, an athlete who is good with the bow and arrow as she fights the tiyanaks who attack them. After hanging from a helicopter in “Super Noypi,” she really wants to show she’s agile and strong enough to do action scenes. No less than Patrick himself gave her tips on archery as he himself practices the sport. One time, he even invited Jen to watch him join an archery tournament in Batangas. “The events gave me a good idea about the sport,” says Jen. “I saw for myself how archers stand, focus and aim at their targets.”

Jen is happy to be reunited with Patrick after he arrived last Thursday from his two-week cruise in Alaska with his dad. She was not able to fetch him as she was then busy being a sagala in a santakrusan. Patrick went to her house in the evening to bring her all his “pasalubong,” mostly make-up kits and stuffed toys.

In “Angels,” she plays Bianang, a jologs singer in a cheap bar, while Patrick is Jude, a rich boy. An angel called Kerubina (Ella Cruz) acts as a cupid who introduces them to one another.

Has she had a real angel experience? “Yes, with my second car. I was driving it along Commonwealth Avenue when a 16-wheeler truck hit me. Wasak ang kotse ko at hindi ako naka-seatbelt, but I was miraculously spared. Kahit bukol wala ako. I felt an angel has saved me.”

What is Patrick’s best qualities? “The best is mahaba ang pasensiya niya. Kasi ako, hot tempered. He taught me how to be more patient. When I’m stressed out, he tells me to relax and calm down.”

Even before “Angels” is shown, Regal’s Mother Lily wants to pair them again in “Now and Forever”, co-starring Shaina Magdayao, Iya Villania and Roxanne Guinoo.

By: Vinia Vivar
HOT `N SPICY

“Very private person kasi ako.

JENNYLYN MERCADO IS ARMED AND DANGEROUS IN “TYANAKS”

c/o Yhanna_08 of PEX

You better watch out! Jennylyn Mercado is armed with deadly weapon in “Tyanaks,” the new horror movie from master horror maker Regal Entertainment. After hanging from a helicopter in the 2006 Metro Manila filmfest entry “Super Noypi” and kicking, punching and flying in the popular GMA TV series “Super Twins,” it really seems that Jennylyn is determined to become a screen heroine. In her latest movie, “Tyanaks,” she handles a bow and arrow. Her character is an archery athlete who makes good use of her skills in fighting the gruesome “tyanaks” that is pursuing her barkada composed of Rica Peralejo, Mark Herras, JC De Vera, Ryan Yllana, Jill Yulo, Alwynn Ultingco, Karel Marquez, Andrei Felix & TJ Trinidad. Although agile and strong, maneuvering a bow & arrow fro the movie proved to be a challenge for the actress. Jennylyn was new at handling the heavy and delicate weapons. A representative from an established athletic archery association assisted on the set. Jen turned out to be a fast learner. But guess who gave jennylyn more archery pointers? The person is no other than jen’s boyfriend Patrick Garcia! Line producer Rosa Conde reveals that before principal photography for “Tyanaks” begun, Patrick invited Jennylyn to watch an archery tournament in Batangas. She attended not only to support Patrick but also to observe, do research for “Tyanaks.” The event gave Jennylyn a better idea about the sport. She saw for herself how archers stand, concentrate & aim for the target. When Jennylyn got bruises the first time she handled a bow & arrow, Patrick was very concerned. So he gave her more advice and secrets on archery. When you see “Tyanaks” you will be amazed at how confident Jen. We dare say that her archery skills are worthy of an Olympic gold! Regal Entertainment’s Mother Lily Monteverde is so impressed. “Jennylyn is really masipag and a great actress,” she says. “That is why I know she will make it on her own, kahit walang ka-love team, “Tyanaks” is written by Fairlane Raymundo and Benjie Vellena, and directed by Mark Reyes. The movie hits theatres nation wide in July.

Quick Updates

I guess our favorite lyricist and blogger Yan beat us to it in her blog (check out this FubarGenre.com entry) and in the Hastang yahoogroups.
Yup, Hastang’s single “Random” (beautiful lyrics by Yan) will be included in the soundtrack of the upcoming movie “Angel of Love“. The movie is directed by Mark Reyes and stars Jennylyn Mercado, Patrick Garcia, Ella Cruz, Karel Marquez, Empress Schuck, Popoy, Cheska Iñigo, Alan Paule and Ms. Boots Anson Roa.

This is what we know so far. Jennylyn will be singing “Random” in the opening sequence of the movie. Her character is supposed to be a struggling musician who falls in love with a rich guy.
We hear that the sequence is being shot as of this writing. We’re crossing all our fingers that the result will be nothing short of cool.

Jennylyn nagiging sakitin
By: Dinno Erece
DAILY INSIDER

Siya lang ang wala sa cast which includes Rica Peralejo, Mark Herras, JC de Vera, Alwyn Uytingco, Jill Yulo, TJ Trinidad, Karel Marquez, Ryan Yllana and the kids tiyanaks headed by Nash Aguas.

Even director Mark Reyes was there except Jennylyn, may sakit pala ang girl.

Dapat may all-star shooting ang movie that same day ng presscon last Sunday all the way sa Daranak Falls.

Jennylyn Mercado gets hit by a flu

Pack-up din today, June 4, ang taping nina Mark at Jennylyn for Mark's solo show.

Same goes noon sa Eternity also of Regal Entertainment.
