Kamandag starring Richard Gutierrez. Magkasama rin sila dito ni Mark
Herras.

Dizon.

Jennylyn Mercado at Mark Herras, magkasama hanggang Japan

c/o pao_sanggre7

magkakapatid sina Sarah Geronimo, Rica Peralejo at Maja Salvador,

1 kasama sina Mark Herras at Arnell Ignacio patungong Osaka, Japan

Garcia at Sunshine Dizon.

Sa October 29 ito magsisimula as part of GMA Telebabad presumably
after Marimar and before Hwang Jini. Her last regular job was Super
Twins pa with Dennis Trillo and Nadine Samonte na may primetime
soaps na ring Zaido Pulis Pangkalawakan and Marimar respectively.

Angel Locsin and Becky Aguila with GMA, busy na ulit si Jennylyn
ngayon.

Jodi Sta. Maria, Agot Isidro, Jon Avila and Coco Martin directed by

Jennylyn Mercado is still Becky Aguila’s ward

All's well that ends well for young actress Jennylyn Mercado and manager Becky Aguila (inset, below). "Manager ko pa din po si Tita Becky...okay na po kami," said Jennylyn to the reporters last night, October 23, at the press conference of La Vendetta. The two met for dinner on the eve of October 22 to sort out all their conflicted sentiments.

Noel Orsal

After a few months of floating in limbo, young actress Jennylyn Mercado is back in GMA-7's new primetime soap La Vendetta.

"Happy and very thankful," Jennylyn told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) along with the other members of the press last night, October 23, Tuesday. The interview took place during La Vendetta's press conference held at Ilustrado restaurant in Intramuros, Manila.

It is common knowledge that Jennylyn has been going through a lot of stress during the past couple of months due to the strained relationship between her manager, Becky Aguila, and Jen's home network, GMA-7.

The entire conflict started middle of this year when Angel Locsin, who is also Becky's talent, decided to transfer to ABS-CBN. Slighted by the decision, GMA-7 expressed disappointment and accused its former talent and her manager of leaving without bothering with the courtesies of a resignation expected of a prized talent.

With Jennylyn still very much in Becky's stable and also in the Kapuso network, the young actress was caught in the middle of the cold war between her beleaguered manager and her aggrieved home network. Jennylyn's stress was compounded by the news that all projects originally intended for her were cancelled by GMA-7.

Although Jen kept assuring the media and the public that the problem was under control, it became obvious that the tension was starting to take its toll on her mental and emotional well-being. She was often reported sick during those times.

NO FINGER POINTING. Last Friday, October 19, Angel was asked by the entertainment press what she thought about Jennylyn's fragile state.

Knowing full well that some people were still blaming her for Jen's current dilemma, Angel defended herself. She actually ended up lecturing Jen like an elder sister would.

"Siya, kailangan niyang alagaan yong sarili niya. Kailangan niya ding i-prove kung anong worth niya," said an emotional Angel.

Jennylyn was aware of the comments made by Angel, and was prodded to respond by the reporters that swarmed around her immediately after the La Vendetta presscon.

"Siguro naman kayo, narinig ninyo naman na never akong nanisi," said the soft-spoken young actress.

STILL UNDER BECKY'S WING. All told, don't expect to see Jennylyn with a new manager. At least not for the time being.

Disproving talks that both parties were on the verge of going their separate ways, Jen narrated how she and Becky ironed out all the issues that threatened to break their professional relationship.

"Nag-usap kami last night [October 22]. Nag-dinner kami, and inayos po namin lahat ng dapat ayusin—'yong mga issues na lumalabas tungkol sa aming dalawa, and nilinaw namin nang sa aming dalawa, in private."

Jen admitted that she took advantage of the meeting to confront Becky about the issue that Becky was contemplating dropping the young actress from her roster of talents. Becky denied that she was.

Hoping to put all the nasty rumors to rest, Jen once again reassured everyone, especially the press, "Basta kami, okay na kami ni Tita Becky, and wala din kaming problema ni Angel.

"At first talagang nagkaproblema with Patrick but later on, he understood. Naisip niya na it's all work.

-- PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal)

Patrick wants to direct Jennylyn and Mark

By: Aster Amoyo
IF I KNOW

PATRICK Garcia is pushing through with his plan of studying film
direction in a New York school next year. He plans to leave in
January and he will be away for three months. He has told his
manager (Arnold Vegafria) of his plan.

"I want to grow as an artist and since I am an artista, it would be
nice to learn something like directing. Who knows, we might find
that I could be a good storyteller, " says Patrick who dropped by the
taping if "Bubble Gang" last Monday. He says he's just paying
Jennylyn Mercado a visit, who was the featured guest artist last
Monday.

Patrick hasn't received an offer to appear in a digital film but he
would want to give it a try. Given a chance to direct, who are the
stars he wants to direct and what kind of movie he wants to do? He
answers: "Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras. Nakita ko ang chemistry
nila. They have good chemistry. Gusto ko love story kasi gusto ko
pakiligin ang mga tao."

He already told her girlfriend that he wants to direct her and ex-
bf Mark Herras. He has yet to get Mark's reaction but when told
Mark says he'd be glad to accept the role if he's given the chance.

Angel Locsin to Jennylyn Mercado: Prove Your Worth

Philippine Daily Inquirer
10/20/07

Angel Locsin was placed on the defensive when asked about her take on the spat between her manager, Becky Aguila, and Jennylyn Mercado, a co-’alaga’ of Becky. Her response? She complained that she was always being blamed for the troubles of Becky’s talents in GMA-7.

In a press conference attended by a Showbiz Talk insider last Friday, Angel, according to him, was exasperated about the issue and said that Jennylyn’s camp should not pin the blame on her transfer to ABS-CBN for the young actress’ problems with GMA-7. “Hindi ko na problema yon,” Angel was quoted as saying. She added Jennylyn should take care of her own career and not blame her for any misfortunes that had happened. She also dared her former GMA-7 co-star to “prove her worth.”

Jennylyn previously commented that she would rather severe ties with Becky than face the prospect of GMA-7 dumping her. With a fiery tone, Jennylyn also noted she had not spoken to Angel since the US theatrical premiere of the Angel-Becky production “Angels” in early July. Jennylyn was a lead star in that film. On July 20, Becky announced that Angel was not renewing her contract with GMA-7, the television network that built her successful showbiz career from scratch. A few weeks later, Becky confirmed Angel was transferring to ABS-CBN as an exclusive talent. Angel signed with ABS-CBN in mid-August.

In this succession of events, Jennylyn admitted experiencing the lowest point in her young showbiz life. As the controversy raged, GMA-7 had since refused to ever talk to Becky again or acquire the services of any of her talents. Jennylyn was one of them. Despite having starred in a prime-time top rater, “Super Twins,” Jennylyn had not been seen in any of the GMA-7 shows, much less cast in any of the major programs the Kapuso network had planned.

Until recently when Jennylyn and Becky had allegedly engaged in heated arguments, the first Starstruck female ultimate survivor was allowed to negotiate with GMA-7 producers directly. She will now appear in her first lead role in a prime time GMA-7 soap, “La Vendetta,” since the controversy raged.

I guess that answers Angel’s dare. Due to her busy schedule, Angel might have been out of the loop.

TARGET OF BLAME. Facing the press alone since her controversial departure from GMA-7, Angel was obviously tense and it took her some time before completely letting her guard down during the presscon.

One of the issues raised was actress Jennylyn Mercado's reported conflict with manager Becky Aguila. Most people know that Angel's decision to transfer to ABS-CBN inadvertently blemished the relationship between Becky and her other talents who are still affiliated with the Kapuso network. Both Angel and Jennylyn are being managed by Becky, although some reports have cropped up that Jennylyn is thinking of severing ties with her longtime handler.

Angel said she's keeping her hands off the said issue. But she feels that it is unfair for some people to blame her for whatever career problems hound Jennylyn in the wake of her much talked about transfer.

"Siya, kailangan niyang alagaan 'yong sarili niya," said Angel on Jennylyn, "Kailangan niya ding i-prove kung anong worth niya."

Philippine Daily Inquirer
10/15/07

Jennylyn Mercado has now started mending her ties with GMA-7 by agreeing to one condition network officials had allegedly pointed out to her previously — have her manager Becky Aguila out of the picture.

Becky, who discovered Jennylyn before she ever set foot on GMA Network Center, had become persona-non-grata in Kapuso country after engineering the flight of erstwhile GMA prized actress Angel Locsin to the network’s rival, ABS-CBN. After Becky had decided to make that gargantuan shift, the most affected were her other talents with live contracts in GMA-7. While Angel had escaped the wrath, the other prominent talent of Becky, Jennylyn Mercado, was left with abandoned projects and a potential bypass of the remaining three or four years in her GMA contract since the network had since refused to ever talk to Becky again.

While Becky had placed the blame on GMA for being an “unchristian” employer, an objective eye would always consider the move as extremely risky for someone in the business of talent management, unless her business revolves around just one talent. But, no, Becky has other talents, who gave their full trust in her expertise and connections. Now, they are all floating, waiting perhaps for the Kapamilya network to give out their “entry visas.” But of course, ABS-CBN can’t take them all. Good thing Valerie Concepcion still made that slim cut. Valerie now co-hosts ABS-CBN’s noontime show “Wowowee” with Willie Revillame, Mariel Rodriguez, and Pokwang.

This Jennylyn can’t do–jumping to ABS-CBN like what Angel or Valerie did. She still has a live contract with GMA-7 for the next few years. The only recourse for Jennylyn was to arrange for a “semi-release” from Becky. This means, GMA-7 will speak directly to Jennylyn for television projects, allowing the first Starstruck grand female champion to receive the entire talent proceeds from negotiations. But Becky can still negotiate for Jennylyn’s projects outside of GMA-7, like film projects or concerts.

According to Jennylyn she would rather be released by Becky than be dumped by GMA-7:

“Siyempre kahit sinong tanungin niyo, oo siguro yung sagot,” Jennylyn told GMA-7’s “Startalk” in a taped interview aired Saturday.

So ngayon sana huwag uli ako madamay. Trabaho na ulit ako sa GMA. Loyal naman ako sa GMA eh. Thankful ako sa kanila na binigyan uli ako ng opportunity after all.”

Jennylyn will make her GMA-7 “Telebabad” primetime block comeback soon with the drama “La Vendetta” opposite Sunshine Dizon, Jean Garcia, Rustom Padilla and Mark Herras. She made her last appearance in primetime through the GMA-7 fantasy series “Super Twins” early this year.
