Becky Aguila answers Mel Pulmano's recent statements, feels betrayed former employee

NOT GUILTY.

"I just want to clarify that I don't frequent casinos. During the few times I went to play slots, to while time away with my mother. I would always observe a cap in my spending, win or lose. I also want to correct the wrong impression that I've had money matter issues. I wouldn't be here if I was guilty of stealing from my artists. I continue to manage them because they trust me.

"I wasn't guilty before and neither am I now. I'll prove that in due time. Jen has nothing to do with this forged checks and she'll prove it in court. It's definitely not a gimmick for her comeback. We will never stoop down that low. In fact, she'll have to work double time to meet her expenses.

"Lessons learned for me is not to take charge of anyone's finances. It's a big responsibility. With Jen on the other hand, not to trust anyone in handling her own account and for the bank to check and call their clients when in doubt. Huwag masyadong relax.

REACTIONS TO MEL'S RECENT STATEMENTS.

"I had the chance to talk with Ms. C, the rediscounter, a few days ago. I got to talk to her thru Nene Riego. Nene wrote Ms. C's story in Bulgar about a week ago. Ms. C told me that she owns the salon besides OctoArts. Si Ms. C ang nagpasulat regarding Jen sending her text messages, sending MMS pictures of Jazz and talking to her on this smart number 09209705025. This cellphone number is Mel's personal use for my agency's talent bookings. My staff and everyone else who knows about this number can attest to this.

"In answer to your question about Ms. C, here is my answer: Mel was rushing me that time to sign the ABS-CBN Agency's payroll. Pinagbigyan ko siya because kailangan daw ng cash ng office, pambayad sa talents and suweldo ng staff since the next day is already a Saturday at sarado ang bangko. So, inihabol niya at napa-encash niya the amount of Php 406,556.56 sa Security Bank. I had company that late afternoon.

May nakita akong kasama ni Mel that time. Her best friend and confidant. Nagpunta kami sa fruitstand beside Tropical and Mercury Drug. I asked her to buy fruits for me and pasalubong for her kids. Mel carried two bags with her. When Mel got in the car again, I asked her to give the cash withdrawn from Security Bank sa kasama ko before we left.

According to Ms. C, that day na sinundo ko daw si Mel, humiram si Mel ng 400 hundred thousand as payment daw for Jen for the coffeetable book ng producer. According to Ms. C, ang ginamit na collateral ni Mel is the blank check of the producer nito.

"Regarding Jen, according to Ms. C, aside from Jen's text messages, nakausap pa raw ni Ms. C sa cellphone si Jen. Nag-MMS pa ng pictures ni Jazz. In-inform namin sila na those texts messages came from Mel's personal cellphone number na gamit niya sa agency. The Smart sim number is Jennylyn's line but that line was turned over to Mel personally more than a year ago. Jen requested that time to Mel na ipa-assume muna sa agency ang Smart line na ‘yan to cut cost on her expenses since she has her own Smart line naman. Former owner of the Smart line was Tita Lydia [Mercado, Jen's mom]. Pinasa ni Mel kay Cecile, my former secretary. When Cecile resigned last December 2007, she turned it over to Mel and ever since then si Mel na ang may hawak ng Smart line na ‘yan.

"Never niyang binitawan o pinahiram that cellphone to any co-staff in the agency. That Smart cellphone number became one of Mel's personal and official cellphone number.

May gusto siyang liwanagin?

"October 6, I woke up early at 6 am. Left the house with my twin daughters at 7 am and drove them to school. Arrived at U.S. Embassy at 8:30 am. Between 8:30 am to 12 pm, I was at the U.S. Embassy with Angel and Winnie for the ASAP Guam Visa. When Angel and Winnie left, I fetched Katrina at Goldilocks in front of UST before 1 pm and we waited for Bianca at Goldilocks at around 2 pm para sabay na kaming umuwi. Nag-take out ako ng pansit palabok and cake. Left Goldilocks at around 3 pm. We arrived home around 3:40 pm. Going back to Goldilocks at past 1 pm.

"While waiting for Bianca, naisipan kong tawagan si Mel because she has been sending me repeated blank MMS. I told her to stop sending me MMS thru the smart line because magastos at sana magtipid naman siya sa paggamit nito. Siguro in a day and every day for the past 2 weeks since October 6, I would be receiving around 10 to 15 MMS, na blangko naman. Sira daw cellphone niya kaya nagloloko ang MMS niya. Naawa naman ako sa sinabi niya kaya I offered to give her my extra cellphone in the house, when I get home.

"Prior sa conversation namin over the cellphone, I haven't been talking to Mel for some time now ‘coz galit pa ako sa ginawa niya sa agency ko. Mahal ko naman si Mel. She's been with my talent agency for six years. Nagalit lang ako sa kanya because may mga bagay ako na napapansin na nangyayari sa agency ko kaya nga I hired an accountant to monitor and oversee my agency's finances.

"I didn't go to the office and I didn't see Mel the whole day. I called up Bing and asked about Mel. According to Bing, umuwi na because masakit daw ang ulo at batok. I tried calling her but she didn't answer my calls. I wanted to ask her why she got my extra cellphone without waiting for me. But she didn't answer my calls. So, I slept after that because I was really tired and sleepy. I woke up past 7 pm na. I tried calling Mel again at around 9 pm, but both cellphones were off.

"That night, since she didn't reply to my text messages because naka-off nga cellphone niya, I texted her that I don't like unprofessionals. I texted her also that she should keep her cellphone open for communication for emergency and other concerns. Di siya nag-reply.

"Oct. 7, I woke up at l0 am. I called Mel in both cellphones, still unattended. Tried their land phone, no answer. Texted her kung papasok ba siya, no reply. Called Tony, a common friend of ours, at around 12 pm if tumawag si Mel sa kanya, wala pa raw. Requested him to check Mel. I was worried na baka nadisgrasya or something wrong had happened. Requested Tony to forward Ronnie's cell number. Ronnie is the husband of Mel. No reply either.

"After a while, nag-text si Tony na may sakit daw si Mel. LBM and she's been vomiting according daw kay Ronnie. After a few minutes, nag-text si Mel and her text message was ‘Tita nasa dentist po ako.'

"At past 2 pm, Jen texted me ‘Tita may I call?' Texted her back ‘Sure.' Jen told me, nawawala raw si Tita Mel. She has not seen nor heard from her for days. Kade-deposit lang nya ng 80 thousand nung umaga then when she checked in the afternoon, wala na. Jen also found out that her checks bounced. She was caught unaware of what was happening. Naawa ako kay Jen. She was crying.

"I advised Jen to calm down. Then I called Tony and asked him if he knew something cause I was suspicious already. He told me Jen owes him 300 thousand. According to Tony, ‘When Mel borrowed 300 thousand, Jen was in touch with me. Nagtiwala si Tony kay Mel thru those text messages coming from Jen as shown by Mel.

"Upon hearing that excuse, I advised Tony to talk to Jen immediately ‘coz I don't believe that Jen owes him money. Tinawagan ni Tony si Jen. Tumawag ulit sa akin si Jen scared and crying. Wala daw siyang utang kay Tito Tony. Paano daw nangyari iyon? Jen brought her good forged checks including her bank statements. Ipinakita rin ni Tony ang mga na-good na checks ni Jen, at nai-compare namin ang true and forge, and we saw a big difference sa signature.

"I then advised everyone present sa meeting na puntahan namin si Mel sa house niya to give her a chance to explain. So, we all went and arrived before midnight. Mel was sleeping in the sofa. Ronnie woke her up but di niya magising. May balde sa tabi ng sofa with her vomit. We requested Ronnie to wake her up because we want to hear her side.

We were all talking to her. I said ayaw niya because I never saw any effort on her part to open her eyes. That was also the opinion of everyone present. So, we followed Ronnie's request and stepped out of the house.

"After a while, lumabas si Jen and Ronnie. Di pa rin idinidilat ni Mel ang mga mata niya but Jen said she saw tears flowing. Nag-comment ako na mahirap gisingin ang nagtutulug-tulugan.

"I asked Ronnie what he knew, wala raw siya alam. Ronnie made a comment na nag-take yata ng Zonrox [a bleaching product] because amoy-Zonrox ang breath ni Mel. We advised Ronnie to bring Mel to the hospital because of her condition. Ronnie said, ‘Balik na lang kayo at pasensiya na at di pa siya makakausap sa ngayon' and so we left at around 1 am, Oct. 8 na.

"Present at Mel's house last Oct. 7 before mag-midnight aside from me were Jen, Tony, Rose, Babet, Lheng and my agency's staff, Erlin, Bing, Lee and Erlin's husband.

"Regarding naman sa UCPB [United Coconut Planters Bank] OR saving account with Jen, that ended last January 10, 2008, according to Jen and Lydia during our meeting with the lawyers, walang tinurn-over si Mel na financial statement records and UCPB OR savings passbook sa kanila.

"So if it's not with them, then it's with Mel because na-turn over naman kay Mel ang original statement and passbook ni Jen. Siya kasi ang in-charge with Jen's account. I just signed the withdrawal slip based on Mel's report on Jen's expense. Mel represented herself as the road manager and personal assistant of Jen.

BETRAYAL OF TRUST. This is a case of betrayal of trust and confidence. Jen and I are very sad about all this.

"This will be the first and last time that I will be answering this PEP interview. Just like what I said in all my interviews, this issue is not for public consumption! A lot of hurting words, fabricated lies and malicious text messages have been spread out to destroy my reputation and credibility as a manager and as a human being.

"Likewise to my artists who have done nothing wrong to deserve all this public humiliation. Nakikiusap po ako sa inyong lahat to allow the court to take charge from now on. These are human lives torn apart into pieces by trial by publicity. Please let's give respect due each other as human beings. No one is perfect. God is watching. The truth will prevail at the right time..," pagtatapos ni Becky Aguila.
